The Tata Punch iCNG is a CNG-powered variant of the popular Tata Punch subcompact SUV. It was launched in India in August 2023, and is available in three variants: Pure, Adventure & Accomplished.

The Punch iCNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that produces 72.39 bhp and 103 Nm of torque while running on CNG. This is a slight decrease in power and torque compared to the petrol-powered Punch, but the CNG variant is still capable of returning a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5 kmpl.

The Punch iCNG is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission only. It does not get an automatic transmission option, which is a bit of a disappointment. However, the manual transmission is well-suited to the Punch’s small engine, and it provides good drivability.

Here are some of the key features of the Tata Punch iCNG:

  • 1.2-litre, three-cylinder CNG engine
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • 26.5 kmpl claimed fuel efficiency
  • Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors
  • Micro-switch for CNG refuelling.
  • Single advanced ECU
  • Direct Start in CNG
  • Innovative twin cylinder.
  • Thermal incident protection

The Tata Punch i-CNG is priced between ₹7.10 lakh and ₹9.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is a good option for those looking for a fuel-efficient and affordable CNG-powered SUV.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the Tata Punch i-CNG:

Pros:

  • Good fuel efficiency
  • Affordable price
  • Spacious interior
  • Good safety features

Cons:

  • No automatic transmission option
  • Low power output

Overall, the Tata Punch iCNG is a good option for those looking for a fuel-efficient and affordable CNG-powered SUV. It is a bit underpowered compared to the petrol-powered Punch, but it still offers good drivability and a comfortable ride. The Punch iCNG is also well-equipped with safety features.
